Computer Adventure: Process List

Okay, so before I get going, I recognize that this could as well be a whole separate blog, but to be honest, I'm more familiar with forums, and so I doing it in here instead. So deal. Before I get any comments on how "dumb" this might be (not like anyone would), I'm going to say to you, "This is a learning tool for myself, shove off." If you want to come along for the ride, be my guest. Join my n00b party if you will. :}

Okay. So, one (of many) thing(s) that really have kinda remained ambiguous to me in the computer world is the process list. If you're a PC user, you'll find this in your task manager. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and you'll get there eventually. Yeah, so the process list. Basically this blog is going to document my adventure in finding out what my processes are and if there are some that I can't get rid of, even better.

So, before I go anywhere, I guess I should show you my process list:

Notice: This was taken with the minimal amount of processes running that I could manage. Basically, I shut down all my programs like Skype, MSN, etc. You'll see that I have Microsoft Paint running. That's cause I needed it to put my screenshot somewhere.

You don't have any of the processes owned by the SYSTEM user.

Did a little internet surfing and found this: http://www.brighthub.com/computing/windows-platform/articles/26910.aspxexternal link

Didn't help a whole lot, but it was a start.
Pretty much what I got out of this is about jusched.exe
Apparently it's an update checker for Java that only checks once a month.

Is this bad?

Ohwait, I think I happened upon the system stuff. Apparently it had it hidden, but I found the full list.

Okay, so I started with the things I could kinda guess at, which were programs that I could recognize. Pretty much all in green is what I'm keeping so far. The processes that I've gone over are related to either my webcam or anti-virus, so I think I want to keep them around.

Continuing on:
I found a great resource (imo) that I'm using is http://searchtasks.answersthatwork.com/index.htmlexternal link

Made some more marks in green and red, green are the processes I'm keeping, red are the processes I'm disabling from start-up.
