I could have sworn...
that Fluff wrote something about how people are too quick to shout racism at stuff? D: EDIT: GREAT SUCCESS! Found it
Irritated
...at one person at the moment. Not sure what it is exactly. Arrogance? Sorta, but I can't quite put my finger on it exactly.
Dear Tennesee;
Have you forgotten what this country was founded on? Have you ever read the U.S. Constitution? Pretty sure if you look at the Bill of Rights (1st Admendment), there is a guarantee of freedom of religion. Put away your stereotypical views that ALL Muslims are the same as all the 9/11 folks. Sheesh!
Sincerely, Osama bin Laden This would be what I'm referring to about a Muslim community trying to build a mosque in Tennessee and the Christian community trying to stop it. http://abcnews.go.com/WN/murfreesboro-tennessee-mosque-plan-draws-criticism-residents/story?id=10956381 It just really ticks me off to see some Americans so ignorant at times.
I need something consistent
Okay, in order for me to be regularly blogging or something I need to think of something to blog about, unlike before where I would just blog about random topics.
Excuse the poor examples: It's like if there is someone who has to lose weight, they'll blog everyday to track their progress and might get a little support group out of it too. or A movie came to mind where this one lady was going to cook all the recipes of Julia Child and blogged about it. It's called Julie & Julia I think you get the point though silent audience. It would provide much more benefits like being able to know what I'm blogging about. Oh, and I started up reading novels again. Hopefully I get through a couple during summer now that I have time to read. I'm reading Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy. S'okay, I'm going to sit and think of ideas now or maybe I'll just get back to reading.
Internship that doesn't feel like an internship??
Just to start, I'm not really sure what an internship is supposed to be. I figured it be a job where you do small things here and there while learning about a possible career path to follow in the future? But then reality sets in, and it sorta hit me. Let's put together the facts:
-I just finished sophomore year. This means I'm not really equipped with the necessary knowledge to be useful. Just think about it. Only 1 accounting class and a bunch of general education courses and/or beginning business major requirements. -Bad timing. This company I'm working at, (same as last year), has their fiscal year from July to June. So this means right now they're getting ready to change over from last fiscal year to the next one. Plus, on top of that, the month following, the yearly auditors stop in and check the books. What does this mean? It means everyone in the Finance dept. is running around like busy gerbils on a wheel. There isn't possibly enough time for someone to sit down and devote a couple hours to a summer intern to show me some things. This leads to... -Simple Errands. The tasks I'm doing, well, pretty much anyone who has some basic Microsoft Excel knowledge can do them. The tasks are time-consuming, boring, and repetitive, and not-furthering my accounting education. I can't really blame anyone at my internship. It's not like they are trying to give me a bad experience, there just isn't any time. I can't compare this to any other internship because this is the only one I've held so far. There are some pros, like getting paid money for doing easy jobs and getting a resume builder which might get me a better internship next summer. Also, I can't miss the fact that sophomores aren't really great material for internships. Companies prefer juniors and seniors. I'm a little more than two weeks into this, and I've already become a little discouraged. I'll hold out anyways. It still beats working at the grocery store.
I was taking pictures when...
Well, you see, I have great interest in photography, even though I never give myself time to actually go around taking pictures. I have an awesome digital camera that I never use, but plan to, eventually. Well, on my trip to Minneapolis, I'd figure I'd go break out the camera. So, I took some pics, and got back from my trip. Imported photos to cpu, and blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I forgot to set the appropriate size for the pics. They're all thumbnail size and look crappy. Meh, oh well. I guess you learn from practice?
News: SIFE
Yeah, so, this place kinda died? Well, that's all right, because I didn't hold up my end of the bargain as well, but hey, I'm back? :D
Okay, so do you remember in my past blogs when I was jabbling on about SIFE this and SIFE that? You were probably like wtf is that SIFE thing jsheppard is moaning all the time about?? Well, perhaps not that far, but you get the jist, gist?, gjist, jgist! Yeah SIFE, so yesterday and today (Sunday and Monday) me and a whole bunch of SIFE members headed to Philadelphia, PA. What for you might ask? Or perhaps not? You might be bored already? D: Fine, fine, fine, enough jibber jabber. Well, for those two days, we went to Regional Competitions. This is a time where SIFE teams from the Northeast Region of the USA come together to compete for spots in the National Competition. (OMG, I left my camera at home, so no pics :( ) yeah, I know, disappointing thing, but I'll promise to have pics for National Competition, if I make the roster. Oh carp, I just spilled the beans..... Yeah, our team WON in our league, and we'll be going to Minneapolis the week of May 11th to compete on a bigger stage. alright, so I know you're probably still confused about this whole SIFE thing, plus, my typing is so disorganized, but anyways. the website The VITA Project falls under the financial literacy criteria. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is a federal program which offers free tax assistance to those of lower income families. Our team's involvement included coordinating efforts and resources with the United Way representative to get this service offered in the community. Then, SIFE members, like me, learned the basics of tax preparation and became certified through the IRS by passing an exam, and then we volunteered times which we could meet with individuals to assist with their taxes. This is just one project that we did. At competitions, our club had a presentation team which presented to a panel of judges our progress with our projects and why our team stood above the rest. At competitions, they also have a career fair, which is a great way to meet with business representatives. It's a great way to get your name out there. Also, you learn a lot just talking with business representatives. For me, I wasn't really interested in getting a job or internship for the summer, because I already have one, but I still went to the career fair just to meet new people. Also, another highlight of competitions was lunch. For lunch, you're expected to split up and sit at a table without your own SIFE team. You get to meet other SIFE members from other SIFE clubs. ALSO, there are a couple business people at each table, so you get the opportunity to talk with them, which I find very rewarding. For example, a VP from the Nissan company was at my table. Phew, I'm tired, I'll have to write a follow-up blog on this. This pretty much covered the official activities.
Happy Spring Break
MMM, spring break! Going home today and gonna have me a good time. I don't plan being around for next week so keep an eye on shisaa. ;D Oh ya, my roommate gave me this sickness. It started as a sore throat and now has progressed into a cough. Yay for me! Ugh, I wish I had time to do all this dirty laundry now, and not when I go home, but the washers are full. (The washers are ALWAYS full!) News from the week? Hmm. So, the entrepreneurial stuff wrapped on Wednesday with a big show. The commercials that all the classes have been working on were put on for show in the cafegymnasiutorium. Uh, yeah my class's commercials? D: Tbh, they sucked compared to the other classes. :s Only 2 out of the 5 groups had video components to the commercial. O_o Idk... apparently I must have done a sucky job or something. On other news, I will be going the SIFE regional competitions in late March at Philadelphia. Should be fun. Well, that's pretty much it. I've got to finish packing.

Torn
Intro: So last week in my Political Science class we just wrapped up the second section of the course with an exam. I did very well on it too.
I'll try to sum up what Rauch is saying: (goddamn, how do you add bullets?) - coined term hyperpluralism- lots of interest groups, with lots of power - groups choke political system b.c they're unwilling to compromise, and they dominate elected officials -trying to solve the interest group problem by making gov. closer to ppl doesn't help (because interest groups ARE the people) -making groups to combat the rich just ends up making more groups -.- So, isn't that lovely? I've decided that I'm not going to limit my participation in interest groups as much as I can. The Story: Today I went to go check up on my facebook status. Nothing much from the ordinary, except one of my friends invited me in a cause Ah ha! My brain started tinkling. This is a great opportunity for me to get my feet wet with business writing! I'm currently in my business writing class, and can use what I've learned there to write a letter to my rep. So, I started writing this letter. Go the address of my rep.'s office in Harrisburg, put in my address, and started writing the content, and then I was like wait a moment.................. ....I'm participating in an interest group. D: Gah! Hypocrite I am! ButButBut Linn Run! D: Ugh, I'm torn. So, at the moment, I have stopped writing the letter to my State rep., but I'm still a member of that cause on facebook.
my friends suck
I'm convinced that I suck at finding friends. I don't know what it is, but I usually end up with people I don't actually have fun hanging out with. This didn't happen as much in high school, but now that I'm in college, it seems that I've found the wrong crowd to hang out with. It might be the other way around too. I might just be a horrible friend in the first place, so they just reciprocate the same way back, but I didn't think I was that awful.
Don't get me wrong, not all my friends are horrible here. Some are pretty awesome, but there are a few people that I hang out with that I really have no idea how I started hanging out with them. Yeah, pretty sure I suck at finding decent friends for myself. In Kindergarten, first day of school, I'm pretty sure I hung out with the kids who were bullies, or something considerably close. Later on in school, I'd always be with the kids who were less academic. Nothing wrong with them, but I never related well. I guess the thing that's getting me thinking like this is a text conversation between one of my so-called friends. Him: Jason......will you help me tomorrow? Me: Uhh. What's tomorrow? Him: Will you do go green save green with me? (Go green save green is a power point presentation that my SIFE club do in Freshman Seminar classes) Me: Uh, when and where? Him: 1 oclock not sure where ... mike asked me to cover for him and i dont wanna do it myself ...i checked your schedule...youre free (Okay, so another thing I don't like here is the fact that he found out from the SIFE VP (mike) my schedule, basically trying to corner me into doing this) Me: Alright, just make sure you let me know where Him: Thank you jason! (Some time elapses) Him: (the place) Him: I just remembered this...i might be a minute or two late...but the profs will be there Fuck that. I'm pretty sure he didn't just remember. He was probably getting me to do it along with him to save his ass because he was coming late to begin with. And when he comes late, it's not one or two minutes like he claims. Ugh. Tomorrow is gonna be fun. I'll laugh if he doesn't show up completely.
